60 This is a lovely tune on its own, but as a remix I feel a little let down by it. Basically it feels like a slowed-down version of the original with a two-step rhythm pattern applied to everything and shome rhodes stabs added in on top of the original sounds. It all works well and the track feels very balanced and well structured, but it feels more predictable (and therefore, more bland) than the ... More original. A lot more needs to be done with the beats in particular, as this being a garage tune it needs to have some more changes, 16th notes, reverses or whatever, as garage is a very drums-orientated genre and there's just not enough variation here. The choice of drum kit is pretty meh as well, much more suited to breakbeat than garage where the stripped down arrangement serves to accentuate the familiarity of the samples, thus rendering them uninteresting. The buildups into the drops are very obvious as well, with seemingly little imagination gone into them (a filtered sweep is about the only buildup element there is).
Very pleasant to listen to, but for me this is lacking in imagination and almost feels like a half-hearted effort as a result. This review is helpful (+1 from 1 person) |

70 I like the track, i can see the direction you wanted to take with it, technically very strong. Elements work in harmony. Does not quite envoke much emotion, but i can definetly feel the vibe and enjoy it. Syxx This review is helpful (+1 from 1 person) |
