80 Wow this is something special. Sweet intro with sexual pads and some beautiful keys. Then that old-skool hardcore break drops - programmed to perfection. I was disappointed with the bass at 2:30, doesn't work with the other sounds. I think a simple row passed reese could work better. But apart from that this is a brilliant track and I hope it does well when it gets released This review is helpful (+1 from 1 person) |

60 Hang on a second, is this really the same artist who wrote "Jazz Roller", which I just reviewed? If so, then there must be a gap of some time between the two, as this is vastly superior both technically and musically to that other tune. There's still a bit of clashing caused by the long envelope tails on the pads, which is unfortunately part of the problem with using such epic pad sounds in ... More combination with a short-attack lead piano sample. It can be addressed in one of two ways: shorten the tail and handle the transitions with actual note lengths or reverb control, or else change the melody itself so that no piano notes fall on the opening note of the bar, allowing the pads to blend and settle after each chord shift. That said, the piano lead is really nicely handled and shows a much firmer grasp of musical theory than Jazz Roller did. With tighter chord control it would be very lush indeed.
The twinkliness of the pads and pianos works perfectly with the beats, which are really nicely programmed: nothing too fancy going on, and perhaps a bit more variation would have enhanced the overall flow of the track, but the break is nicely chosen, and there's a lot more space between the frequencies this time around. The snare is too bright though; it hurts the ears and needs some high-end chopping off of it, which would probably require another snappier snare to be layered on top to retain its vibrancy.
I agree with kindafunky about the bassline at 2:30; it sounds bloody awful, and the subtler, deeper bass licks that drop in during the second half of the track work much better. I would have preferred more mid-range on the sub bass though, as there's really nothing else new going on with the track at this stage so the bass deserves more presence.
Structurally it's very simple but works quite well. It could do with an upshift in the second half to give it artistic progression, but this is such an improvement on Jazz Roller that I'm just happy to hear the potential I identified in that tune coming further to the fore. Not classic status by a good long way yet, but definitely a firm step in that direction. More please. This review is helpful (+1 from 1 person) |

60 Atmospheric often does it for me in drum and bass music and you've certainly captured the right sound with this one. 2 critiques straight away with this one: 1) Break goes nowhere. I'd like to hear them crisper, tighter, generally more worked with. Too distorted for my ear. 2) The 2:19 breakdown needs some work. I'm not sold on that sound and might suggest a pad or lead synth. Aside from that, very ... More strong atmosphere, sub, sound selection etc. Extremely listenable. Well done, keep it up. 6 with undeniable room for easy improvement. This review is helpful (+1 from 1 person) |

100 This is like 10/10 to be a commercial track... I mean, the build ups, the mellodies played in it, the constant atmosphere, the hi hats rolling along so natural, makes it a good good track... not a dancefloor track, cause this make me want to stop dancing and just listen to it carefully... =) Nice changes here and there... some quieter parts that make the listener stuck to it :) This review is helpful (+1 from 1 person) |

40 Hello. I am writing my first review in quite a long period of time... i liked the beginning and all but, let us be honest, sometimes on this track (you got to be deaf not to hear that) the harmony... goes off.. or, i dont know is there a better way to explain it. first of all, pad and beeping triangle synth (which i found to be pretty annoying) just dont work together, adding piano to it which ... More has a good idea behind it but.. some notes also dont harmonize with the rest of this track. im sorry, but this is way off the first play in charts, i just cant believe it got to there.. no arrogance, i am objective. This review is unhelpful (-1 from 1 person) |
