Biography
My style can be described as electronic music, but more accurately as complex technical beats and rhythms with unique melodies, extremely dark atmospheres, chill vibes, gritty/raw and smooth/subtle collisions, with a high amount of experimentation. It is truly unique, hand crafted music that you haven’t heard anywhere else.
If I had to throw out some genres that my music would fall into, I would have to say Drum n’ Bass, Trip-Hop, Down-Tempo, Classical, Soundtrack, Experimental, IDM, Glitch, Ambient, New Age, and Industrial.

90 This tracks does a lot of things really well. It's unconventional, but that makes it really refreshing. At no point was there not an interesting idea being laid out in front of me. I loved the little nuances in the drums. Even when they were not being particularly energetic, they captured me because there were little aspects for me to latch on to. The array of sounds occurring is fantastic. We go ... More from playful flutes to moody synth strings to those rapped vocals, which were a welcome surprise. Just superb!
This track also goes to show the power of good production. It's not going to make poor ideas good, but it will make great ideas stand clear and add mountains of credibility to the sound. That is exactly what has happened here; I was able to hear every detail and even if i wasn't open minded towards new directions in dnb I'd take this seriously. This is a lesson we can all learn from IOSYS: be sure to let great ideas be supported by good production, and use good production to express your great ideas.
I want to hear more like this in the future. This is definite album material! This review is helpful (+1 from 1 person) |

60 For me this song made no sense until 2 minutes in, the build up apart from unique did'nt really capture much my attention or envoke much emotion, soon after 2 minutes the track fell apart again. I usually love sounds that after different, however this one did not really do it for me. The first drop felt out of time, the drums had been transposed right down to a trashy kit, which again in my ... More opinion did not work very well. I believe if this track was put on the site today, it would not quite receieve such a high rating.
Now for the good things, arounf 1:48 i started to enjoy the sythns, very creepy i was expecting something huge to happen. This track has had alot of effort put into, along with strategic effects.
Its certainly interesting but for me appeared to be a melting pot of ideas, but for me it did'nt quite cut it.
Regards

60 Really not my style but a good effort. In the same way that I don't like this I love it for the same reasons. I progressions in the musical elements are not something I enjoy listening to within a classical composition but it seems to work here. I think in some ways it breaks the boundaries of electronic music and old classical. Any form of electronic music that incorporates classical music would ... More normally take a minimal classical approach in which the musical elements repeat but tend to gradually evolve over time. This track doesnt. It's a brave step to take but I also feel that in some ways its a necessary step to take for musical progression.
I'm a little confused as I'd like to question why this artist has put this up on a dnb site when this track (IMHO) is more hip/trip-hop. But that's just being nit-picky...
Great musical ability, I question the production skills a little and I feel that it all evolves far to often and too quickly for my liking so as much as I'd love to give this track a high score I can only go as far as a 6/10. Personal taste came into play quite heavily in that mark but I'd say its still quite a good score. (not like I'm the fucking Oracle or anything...) ;-)Nobody has rated this review yet. |
