Biography

Ville (21) and Jaakko (17) met when Jaakko was born 17 years ago, and turned out they were brothers. After 15 years of brotherhood, they started producing music together. They released the awesome power of Reason 4 by making some D&B and Dubstep tracks, and some of those tunes can be heard and downloaded from this Soundcloud page. Currently they are living in Jyväskylä, Finland; Jaakko studying desktop publishing and Ville serving in the Finnish
army.

Marc Crouch21st July 2011  1 comment 90 Review of: Alexander in Paris - Man vs. Kid (Dwayne & Kale rmx) Okay, I'll hold my hands up and admit to being a huge fan of artists like The National, which this reminded me hugely of. So the vocal style and chord structure is very much up my street from the get-go. Having never heard of Alexander In Paris though, and this being a remix, I went to check out the original for some context. As always with remixes, I assess based on whether or not the remix adds ... More anything to the original or otherwise takes it in another direction. In other words, is there a place in the world for both the remix and the original? In this case, the answer is a resounding yes, as actually I think this remix improves on the original quite a bit. The song structure is a little odd, it has to be said. After a lush buildup it breaks down for what seems ages, but just as it seems like it's going to drift, that second beat comes in and boy what a payoff! It really feels like the drums in this remix belong with the tune, and combined with the gorgeous pads and excellent mixing in of the original acoustic elements and vocals make for a really tight ensemble and a better tune than the somewhat languid original. My only criticism? It could have gone further with the strings and atmospherics, particularly if the middle breakdown was shortened a bit to allow for a crescendo to build. That would make it a 10 for me, but as it is this is an easy 9 and a flyer into my favourites list. This review is helpful (+1 from 1 person)

Marc Crouch24th July 2011     90 Review of: Kale - Time and Patience [FREE] This one is a real grower. The first time I heard it I thought "nice, pleasant". Then the second time I heard it, it came in as part of the a run-through of all the Latest Tracks page and caught my ear, so I listened to it a third time and... wow. As with the Alexander In Paris tune, it pays to stick with this track for a bit as it starts off a little slow but once those strings come in it ... More becomes a truly delicious piece of music. They really are masterfully handled, conveying a sense of emotion that is all too rare in dubstep tracks (at this level of quality anyway). The rest of the composition (which is the appropriate term for this) is also very well balanced. The xylophone/glockenspiel (I can never tell the difference) sticks in the mind long after the song's finished, the beats sit perfectly and the bass has a whirring quality that underpins it nicely. The only real downside is that it doesn't progress after the breakdown (which is one of the higlights of the track, with that cello... ). Not a particularly bad thing when the general quality is this high, but that would have made it a 10 instead of a 9. Fantastic work on the whole though. Nobody has rated this review yet.

thermal31st March 2011     70 Review of: Cat in a Box with Jet Ace Logan [FREE] Those drums in the beginning are wicked. Sweet melodic elements, this is a warm track. Good mix. Nice bass. I'm with Stealth Elf; a special vocal or other hook could have made this a classic. It's a 7,5 for me so I'm giving a 7 to balance the score towards that. Nobody has rated this review yet.
